Behind the Scene of Novaella

The planning of the shoot took about 2 months. From sketching from an idea, to making the apparels, to finalizing it with Mori Galaxy's first photo shoot. During the shoot, I realize how important it is to be on time. It really makes and breaks a lot of things. Timing is everything; in getting the right lighting, talking to people on time, and arriving on time.

On May 7th, 2017, everything seemed to fall within those 5 hours of renting the studio. The shoot starts at 11am, and I arrived at 9am. I had less than 6 hours of sleep because it was just so exciting to have this day come together.

My vision for this shoot was just simply youth, happiness, and fun.

Photographer Rudy and model Mimi both arrived first, and at the same time. They helped me setup the clothing, and we were doing test shots before the other models arrive.

When most of the models arrived, it felt like there were three of me. I was answering calls, making sure the models knew where to go, and directing and making background sets.

It was such a big help to have my assistant Marcos there, who brought food for everyone. Grateful to Kyla, Nico's friend who helped me in blowing up balloons. They kept me in check when I was running back and forth between shoots like a headless chicken.

We were 2 hours a head of scheduled after shooting 4 models. Eileen, the stylist made everything so gorgeous. She was the fairy godmother of the shoot. Transforming the models. It really felt unreal that few weeks ago we were discussing models styles on paper, and now we seeing them transform before our eyes. It was so blissful, easygoing when we everyone came together to do test shoot. We had trial and errors, but we still got things done. It was a good feeling to see them happy while we worked.

We were struggling with to shoot with a long wide shot with short arms. hehe.

Towards the end we had some setbacks, and we were able to shoot 2 apparels within 20 minutes. It almost seems unheard of. Rudy, the photographer, was a trooper. Heavily on his professionalism. Thanks to Eileen, we were able to come up with quick concept and throw together to make up for lost times.

In the end everything worked out and we wrapped it up with a final selfie.

After the shoot everyone was hungry and we went to a ramen shop to eat! Everything ended on a good note. Now we just wait to see the photos!

Special thanks for everyone's Time and effort! Thank you!
